Why it matters

Constant pressure on the top floor

An undersized booster set leaves the upper floors without pressure at peak times. An oversized one starts and stops frequently, uses a lot of energy and wears out the pumps.

KSB Delta booster sets run at variable speed: they keep the pressure constant whatever the demand and start only as many pumps as needed. We select them on the building's peak flow rate and the required pressure.

What pressure the booster set must deliver

A first estimate of the pumping head for a building. The peak flow rate and the number of pumps are determined by the engineer, based on the actual consumers.

Formula: building height + minimum pressure at the last consumer + estimated losses (15%) – mains pressure. 1 bar ≈ 10.2 m water column.

How to choose a pressure booster set

Peak flow rate

It is calculated from the number and type of consumers (apartments, bathrooms, taps), not from average consumption.

Required pressure

Building height, minimum pressure at the last consumer and losses, minus the mains pressure. The calculator below gives you a first estimate.

Number of pumps

A standby pump for continuity; several small pumps use less energy than one large one.

Supply

Directly from the mains or from a break tank. This matters for dry-running protection.

Questions about booster sets

What booster set do I need for an apartment block?

It depends on the number of apartments, the height of the block and the mains pressure. Send us this data and we will propose the right Delta set, with the required number of pumps.

What is the difference between a conventional booster set and one with a variable speed drive?

A conventional booster set with a pressure vessel starts and stops the pump at pressure thresholds. A variable speed set keeps the pressure constant and uses less energy, especially at low flow rates.

Can I replace an old booster set with a KSB set?

Yes. We start from the data of the existing booster set and the building's consumption and propose a set with the same connections or with minimal adaptations.

Are the sets suitable for drinking water?

Yes. Delta sets use stainless steel pumps, suitable for drinking water.
